Hi all
just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a wind indicator on the shadow? Most of the time I am confident where the wind is but it shifts a bit at Brightlingsea and something to guide me would be a great help. Many thanks Andrew 069 |

Video tape streamers tied to the forestay bridle. Effective, dirt-cheap and less delicate than audio cassette tape

Actually David I use HD Tape. Better definition on wind direction but in a format that is unintelligible as the boat wasn't designed by JVC.

Andrew,
Fitting a wind indicator like the hawk is difficlut becasue the spinniker tends to wipe it out. Having came from a Dart 15 I found not having a wind indicator odd at first but like most shadow sailors I have ribbon streamers fitted to the front bridle wires. I use a ribbbon shroud tell tales and fit these to a plastic jib hank. I then rap tape around the shroud above and below the jib hank to stop it dropping and rising. The hank allows it to rotate and not wrap up to much. As for David suggestions of using DVD's........ well not convinced. ![]() Look forward to meeting you at Brightligsea in September. Paul GRB018 |
