Hi Olly,
I will be around to help with your tent. The plan for evening food at the moment is Pub Thursday, a different Pub Friday and the Clubhouse on Saturday. Paul and his wife Julie are preparing the food for the lunches. The Café is undergoing a change of management at the moment and will not be re-opening until June. However part of the agreement with my accommodation guests is that they will cook breakfast for you and your family plus any other campers. With that in mind it would be good to bring the ingredients for your Friday breakfast (at least) with you. Carl |

To anyone driving to Gurnard next week who hasn’t been here before (and to some who may be a little forgetful) the best way of getting to Gurnard Marsh Dinghy Park (Not the Sailing Club) may to follow the directions on my Website.
http://www.gurnardmarsh.co.uk/Getting%20here.html If you were to follow your Sat Navs you would probably be taken down a road that I would not recommend (Cockleton Lane). It is a narrow twisty road that is being worked on at the moment (and Laurie lives there). Ironically, once, whilst towing my Shadow down it I nearly killed Ellen Macarthur. I have just spoken to Rob White and he has again said the he is coming. So if you want free(ish) training by the son of a Gold Medal winner, this Friday at Gurnard is your chance. Carl |

I wouldn't recommend Cockleton Lane either (I found it last year!)
BTW, do we have a cost for the weekend?

Chaps,
Really good to meet you all at Gurnard, and to see more than one Shadow at a time in a stunning setting. We'll have the Olympics at Portland (...did I mention that..?) but currently just the one Shadow. A shame I couldn't stay longer, but I learned a lot from the morning discussion, and to see how other boats are put together and tweaked. Thanks for your hospitality, I enjoyed the visit and look forward to the next one.

Thanks to the Gurnard guys for a great weekend. We had really good close racing and the hospitality was excellent. In particular, thanks to Paul and his wife and the others who made food for the Saturday night- it was fantastic. Well done to Robin- a well deserved win.
I thought that the training on Friday worked very well and it was great to see things being put into practise during the racing and people getting faster. See you all at Instow. |

I'd like to add my thanks as well. I also found the training immensely helpful so thanks Carl, Olly and Robin for that. It's quite odd having someone sit a few feet off the stern shouting instructions: HEAD UP....SHEET IN......MOVE FORWARD......but ot seemed to stick and I can't wait to get back out and practice some more.
So, thanks South Islanders for a great week end and hope you can make it to the Three Piers. Bruce Shadow 002 |

A great weekend, thank you Gurnard.
The view from the back of the fleet was just as much fun as you guys were having at the front. I enjoyed several tight tacking duels with Tony and Dave. The Friday training session was really useful, mainly for encouragement to drive the boat downwind with the hull higher than I previously thought comfortable. Will the video get a wider circulation (this forum or YouTube) so we can have a critical look at technique? Off-water craic and hospitality first-rate once again.

Hi All,
I thought that you may be interested in the thankyou from the RNLI for the money donated from the proceeds of the raffle at the TT. Well done Boo (my wife) for organising. And thankyou for taking part. Regards Robin GBR 056 |
